Are the meanings of these two words related? (Eneko’s Google Award 2015)

Course: Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing

Course open to anyone, see details and pre-requisite information below.
Deep Learning neural network models have been successfully applied to natural language processing, and are now changing radically how we interact with machines (Siri, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Skype translator, Google Translate, or the Google search engine). These models are able to infer a continuous representation for words and sentences, instead of using hand-engineered features as in other machine learning approaches. The seminar will introduce the main deep learning models used in natural language processing, allowing the attendees to gain hands-on understanding and implementation of them in Tensorflow.

Contents

Introduction to machine learning and NLP with Tensorflow, Deep learning, Word embeddings, Language modeling and recurrent neural networks, Convolutional neural networks, Attention mechanisms

Instructors :Eneko Agirre & Oier Lopez de Lacalle

The International Translation Summer School SummerTrans, was founded in Innsbruck in 2004.  From 11 to 20 July 2016 the University of Innsbruck hosted the 7th International Translation SummerSchool “SummerTrans VII: Quality and Competence in Translation”. Addressing trainee translators, professional translators and translation researchers alike, its varied programme featured cutting-edge courses and workshops aiming to advance participants’ theoretical knowledge of and practical skills in translation and interpreting, including state-of-the art translation technology and human-machine interaction in translation.
SummerTrans VII welcomed more than 60 participants from 16 countries spanning from Tunisia over half of Europe to India and China.NoraInnsbruck2016
Michael Ustaszewski, one of our students in Eramus Mundus LCT master2014-2016, now is a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck and one of the organizers of SummerTrans 2016  🙂
Michael told us that now the participants in the workshop know the state-of-the art translation technology and human-machine interaction in translation.

Donostia / San Sebastian 2016 European Capital of Culture represents an enormous opportunity to turn the focus on culture and dialogue as the roads towards improved coexistence. Thus, Donostia / San Sebastian aims to become a benchmark in the sphere of creative processes and culture.

Inside the programme, we are organising Codefest: Coding for Language Communities event, that will take place from 4th to 8th of July 2016 in Donostia / San Sebastián.

Codefest summer-lab, aims to revitalise resource scarce languages by providing them with effective tools for electronic communication and by teaching their communities how to use them. http://dss2016.eu/en/dss2016eu/voices/codefest

This one-week long hands-on course will give participants the opportunity to become acquainted with the latest language-based technologies and to develop different apps based on them. Partakers will work in a multidisciplinary coding bee that will team up linguists, software-engineers and students.
