PATHS WP2: demo of web service to automatically enrich CH items

The goal of this web service prototype is to illustrate how the items in CH collections can be enriched with a subset of the functionality in PATHS. This is not a full-fledged web service, and does not provide all enrichment functionality or the best-performing functionality, but it is just a demonstration of the potential to construct a web service that automatically enriches CH items.

The web service takes as input one CH item represented following the Europeana Data Model (EDM) in JSON format, as exported by the Europeana API v2.0. A sample record is provided in the interface.

The web service returns the following:

A list of 10 items that are closely related to target item

• A list of Wikipedia pages that are related to the target item.
• The output is shown duplicated, in the interface itself for human browsing, and as an XML document, for machine consumption.
